Our primary obsession with this set was to make it clear how much damage every hero had sustained at a glance, and to capture the gravity of those mounting injuries. So we replaced the health dial for your hero with flippable Damage Tokens, and added Status and All-Purpose tokens to round out everything a hero needs, all of which covers allies and engaged minions as well.

The Hero Cosmic Token Set is designed to cover the heroes and interactions found in the Core Set. During all of our testing, these quantities were ideal. If someone like Hulk comes out with 30 health or similar, we’ll solve for that – and probably make it quite special.

Our first priority here, as with the Hero Set, was to remove the villain health dial (more on that in the full description tab below). But our first attempts at using “damage” over “health” for both heroes and villains created an unmistakable dissonance. The villain is supposed to feel like this towering, even terrifying entity that must be surmounted, not a simple punching bag. At the same time, we disliked the idea that we were adding damage to the villain when we attacked but subtracting threat from the schemes when thwarting.
So we moved into a system that would make sure every action “hurting” the villain works as a subtraction. Attack the villain, subtract health tokens. Thwart the scheme, subtract threat tokens. This also creates the “imposing” feeling of a healthy villain or an overwhelmed scheme. The more weight on the villain side of the board, the worse off the heroes are!
Putting it all on the table pulls these phenomenal stories out of the cardboard and truly brings them to life. The set includes:

We obsessed over the smallest details of each Villain Cosmic Token design and tried a myriad of new techniques, going through countless prototypes and airing frustrations more often than we care to admit - all in order to "make it perfect" and do justice to the art form.
For tracking Villain health, we suggest using one side for the 1/2 tokens and the other side for the 10/20 and 50/100. Your 1/2 track will always count from 0 to 9, and then reset as needed.
We highly suggest adding two Cosmic Boards to this set - it makes a huge difference. If you need to cover heroes as well, check out our Hero Cosmic Token Set. In our groups, we encourage everyone at the table to buy their own Hero components and split the cost of the Villain Cosmic Set and Cosmic Boards.

The Cosmic Board is a matte black, felt-backed, triple resin board that holds one Marvel Champions LCG card (generally a Villain, Main Scheme, or Hero) as well as the associated Cosmic Tokens for tracking health, damage, threat, and statuses. Eliminates the need to hide all of the beautiful art present in Marvel Champions simply to track the game state!

We brought lessons learned from the Arkham Horror LCG and our corresponding Mythos Token line to develop an efficient board system that makes the tracking of health, damage, and threat a thematic and enjoyable part of playing the game. The Cosmic Board has a striking design and beautiful matte black finish, as well as a satisfying heft - our heaviest product to date, thanks to a triple resin process and felt-backing.
Pair with a Hero Cosmic Token Set and/or Villain Cosmic Token Set to complete the system.
Because these boards are resin, they may warp if left in hot places for a long period of time (a car in the summer, or shipping during summer, for example). If this happens, heat it up again (hair dryer works great), lay it flat with a heavy object on top (like a book), and let it cool. Problem solved!
